Nasir died Saturday at a Singapore hospital and his body was flown to the Maldives and kept for public viewing at the president's palace !

Good bonfire guidelines

If you are determined to have a bonfire, follow these guidelines and the chances are you won’t cause a serious nuisance:

* Only burn dry material
* Never burn household rubbish, rubber tyres, or anything containing plastic, foam or paint
* Never use old engine oil, meths or petrol to light a fire or to encourage it
* Avoid lighting a fire in unsuitable weather conditions – smoke hangs in the air on damp, still days and in the evening
* Avoid burning when the wind will carry the smoke over roads or into other people’s property
* Avoid burning at weekends and on bank holidays when people want to enjoy their gardens
* Avoid burning when the air quality in you area is “poor” or “very poor” - you can check ......!!!
* Never leave a fire unattended or leave it to smoulder – douse it with water if necessary
* Always start with a small fire to create a hot core then feed it often with small quantities of material this will encourage the smoke to be burnt and minimise the amount smouldering and smoke generated by the fire.

the people who saw the scenes with their own eyes believe thatthe waves which hit the whole country on days 15,16,17, of this month facing the brothers and sisters who live in different parts parts of the nation has left addu with very severe devas-tating effects on the evrionment. though this maybe the first in this century, natural disasters of this nature can neither be stopped nor altered. this is the nature of the environmet surrounding the land and sea of thesmall islands that we live in. the adaptation of ourselves to the circumstances prevailing ata given time is not unworthy of consideration just as we require shade for shelter from rain, and trees for shelter,since we belong here as the children of the seas of Maldives.So gettingadapted to the changing environment is worth consideration. May Allah (SWT) help us to be steadfast on the right path. Also attain success in the remembrance Allah much.

Available in local and variety of foods and cool drinks black tea with short eats. non alcoholic drinks too ! visit and enjoy your self !!

This is a very historical photo of the Maldivian National Football Team taken 33 years earlier. The two members of the National Team seen in this picture were chosen to the team by a very special invitation from the Government. Theyare Mr. Ibrahim Abdullah Didi (Rauha) ASA Hithadhoo who won the position of the best forward in 1973 and Mr. Mohammed Anees of ASA from Nooraaneemaage, Hithadhoo who became No 1 Goalkeeper in the national tournament of the same year. Their position in the national team was the same.
It was an honour for their island for them to have been memebers of the national team. They made history and their names will certainly be written in the foot ball history of the country. Especially they contributed their skills to the national team as they played against the Bandaranaike team of Sri Lanka at a time when the region was beginning to be competitive in football. This foto was clicked just before the start of the game then at the national playground. Today weview these palyers as people who left behind them unforgettable golden days in football, the golden boys of Addu Atoll.
Greegings and best wishes on the occassion of the Republic Day to all the national players as well as officials.We welcome you for your contribution to the sport of the country.

I am going to review several points of my island about UN pleasant looks. Journey to some locations around my pick
Im not saying these are bad but only when I saw them they struck me as being unpleasant. It is desirable if everyone can try to eliminate this type of scenery. Its not that I admire the idea but its such a nightmare. I have to think about centuries to come. So all should try and prevent this place becoming a junk yard.

Starting in 1941, Addu Atoll was developed as advance operational base and provided
a safe anchorage and refueling point for ships of the Royal Navy. An aerodrome and base hospital were situated on Gan and a flying boat base at the southern and of Hithadhoo island manned by the Royal Air Force.

All the large islands had units of the forces stationed on them for purposes of Defance and provision of essential services such as wireless commiunication. prectically all the wartime installation have been removed ,destroyed or over Grown. The destruction was carried out partly by the departing forces in 1945 and completed later by Maldivian them.

TIME was when the RAF had staging posts in remote exotic places all over the world. Liken Gan,
For instance. A tiny atoll in the Maldives Islands in the Indian Ocean, it was virtually nothing more than a runway with a few associated

who worked there used to commute every day from a neighboring island, by canoe. The people of Addu are found of this little and never disturb it when it is nesting. The terns commonly nest in gardens where they lay their single egg on the branch of a breadfruit tree and rear the chick without any nest what so ever. Very often children will play with the chicks but the parent birds are not upset and even fly down to the hand to feed the young ster.

Beautifully situated in front of bank of Maldives in Gan island Addu, war memorial about 1 ½ km from Gan international air port, witch attracts many sightseers, it in ½ km east of equator village (resort hotel) gan. Witch it is easily reached by road.

ADDU ATOLL is one of the most southerly of the Maldives Islands, a group of coral atolls in the Indian ocean 644 kilometers south-west of Ceylon. After the loss of Singapore additional bases in the Indian Ocean were necessary, and early in 1942 a naval base was rapidly and secretly built on Addu Atoll, and was already usable in April of the year, when the first Japanese naval raid into the Indian Ocean occurred. A Royal Air Force station also was soon established, and the island was garrisoned by units of the Indian army. India also provided the labors units for work on the airfield and defenses. Climate and other condition at first caused a very high sick rate among these men, and the remains of those who succumbed were either buried on the island of cremated.

The names of 70 men of India, who died during the years 1942 to 1944, are commemorated on a memorial witch stands on a small lawn immediately in front of the Royal Air Force head quarter at Gan. It is in the form of a rectangular stone pillar bearing on three of its faces marble panels upon witch the names are carved. On the fourth face a panel of the same marble bears an explanatory inscription in English, Hindi and Urdu. This reads:-

Addu Atoll Maldive Island
Addu is roughly heart shaped measurign 10 miles from east to west 6 1/2 miles from north to south, and comprises a perimeter of long narrow islands. Composed of brocken coral shingle overlaid by coral sand a top covering of sandy hums soil from decayed vegetation. the islands are flat and low lying,generally no morthen five feet above sea level. Their coat lines are fringed with thick belts of palm trees and bushes. The island are surrounded by a reef and enclosed a deep water lagoon of 22 squre miles wich affords a good anchorage at all seasons varying in depth between 20 and 40 fathoms with a maximum tidal range of 3'.8" of the four availabe entrance, that known as gan channel between gan and willigili, having a minimum depth of 7 fathoms and safe with of 1/2 mile, is the most suitable for large vessels. The largest ship to use this entrance was RMS Queen Mary during the second World War . Addu atoll has a population of 35000 . Only five of 48 islands forming the Attol are inhabited . The people are cheerful and friendly
